The Word

The Bible is God's Word, and God's Word is true.  This is pretty much a fundamental truth of the christian faith.  It is much more than a historical account of events, and more than a collection of Sunday school stories.  The Word of God is referred to as "living and powerful" - Hebrews 4:12.

In the first chapter of the book of John we learn that the Word has been around from the beginning and by the Word all things were made.  Not only that, but John 1:14 says that the Word became flesh, referring to Jesus, and dwelt among us.  Why did Jesus dwell among us?  To reveal the will of the Father to mankind - John 14:10.

The Word alone changes lives.  The Word alone will set people free.  The Word alone contains everything you will ever need to be successful in anything you do.  However in order to reap the benefits of the Word, the Words have to become more than just ink on a page or a font on your computer screen.  The Word has to be sown into your heart.  It has to be planted and watered and allowed to take root deep within your heart where it will produce faith.  Romans 10:17 says "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God."

Take time today and everyday to plant the Word in your heart.  Don't just read it and run, let it sink in.  Meditate on the Word, continue to hear the Word, then act on the Word.  It will change your life!
